Why this site runs without analytics

No analytics, no adverts, no tracking pixels. Here is what I use instead, and what it costs me.

This site collects nothing about you. There is no analytics script, no advertising network, no session recording and no third-party font or script that learns anything about visitors. The privacy page is short because there is genuinely very little to describe.

That is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight. A portfolio exists to be found and to start conversations; both of those show up in my inbox and in the server log. Knowing that four hundred people left the homepage last week would not tell me what to build next, and it is not worth handing a visitor's browsing habits to a third party to find out.

The practical cost is real. I cannot tell you which page earns the enquiry, or which search term brought someone in. When I do want that detail I read the server's own access log: request paths, status codes and nothing more. It is less precise, it is not shared with anyone, and it disappears on a schedule.

The only things this site stores are what you type into the contact form and two small preferences in your browser, your language and your theme. Both stay on your device until you clear them.
